My apologies for sending this newsletter out a little late. My day yesterday unexpectedly got upended because Home Depot called to request that we reschedule our door installation from September 9th to … approximately 30 minutes from when they called. Turns out, someone else cancelled their door installation.

When one door closes, another opens; but we often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door that we do not see the one which has opened for us.

When we purchased our house, we knew right away that we would have to do something about the sliding glass door to the porch. That's because the door did not have a handle or lock on it. Yes, that means for the previous 30 years, the house was unlocked.
Well, this door was also impossible to open. It was so impossible to open and close that the previous people who lived in the house installed a piece of wood, so they could have something to hold while trying to use the damn thing. The reason that said door was so difficult to open and close was ... because it was installed backwards.
My temporary solution was to put canola oil on the door tracks. By "temporary," I mean for two years until I was forced to do something about it. That something happened about two months ago, when the door could not even be opened. The Husband was required to lift the door off the tracks to move it. Let me just tell you this is an impractical solution when your dog needs to use the potty seven times a day.
We first went to Lowe's, and a week later, the contractor came out. He measured our door for like 30 to 45 minutes, at which time he declared we had a custom door and we would be charged an arm and a leg to install a new one.
We then called Home Depot, because, bruh, I do not have a custom door. My house and my lifestyle is not the type to have custom-built anything. Home Depot came out for almost half the price.
So last week ... I decided to get out a knife and scrape away all the oil build up that was inside the door. Guess what? It opened. And closed, too.
The moral of this story is that Dawn fights grease.
The Promos
This week's newsletter is sponsored by Long Youthspan, a nifty newsletter that talks all about ... well, living a long time. It's very science-y and medicine-y, so if you are into that stuff, you should give it a go.
I'm pleased to promote Into the Dark by AJ Faris. You can grab this book for free by signing up to the AJ's newsletter!
After arriving in the swampy and woody town of Selas Harbor situated by a lake, the web of lies that had served as a façade for the dark happenings in this nebulous town begins to unravel. Amelia Carter comes across interesting and unique characters, each with their own goals, and soon, she uncovers that the truth about her brother Mark and this town might be more than she can handle, both physically and mentally.
We also have a Contemporary Giveaway for YA & Adult books. This is an all-genre giveaway, so you should be able to pick up something you like.

This week I am reading The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole, Aged 13 3/4 by Sue Townsend. I will tell you that I do not understand English humor, but I could tell that other people would find it to be funny if they got English humor. It's also from a few decades ago. (Adrian talks about watching the television program of Prince Charles and Princess Diana getting married.)
I made a mistake this week and forgot to "unpause" the Facebook posts about The Lincoln Lawyer TV show on Netflix. I also didn't realize that I made said mistake. I'm almost through Season 1, and you can have a gander if you'd like. I hit the "unpause" button, but they don't start until tomorrow. Whoooops. I will be starting Season 2 just as soon as I finish Season 1. It started off "good but not great." However, it's growing on me and has gotten much better by the season end. Some of it might be that I just can't get Gabriel outta my head.
